The Central Region is center of the state and includes the cities of Birmingham and Montgomery. It also encompasses the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, Auburn University and Troy State. The Tombigbee River Valley with the historic towns of Eutaw and Demopolis are on the Western side. The Civil Rights Trail runs through the cities of Selma and Birmingham. Talladega Superspeedway and Barber Motorsports are just East of Birmingham on I-20.
